He was born in Kurdler village of Agdam region on the 25th of July, 1958. Elabbas was a close relative of Zallar Araz who was well-known in Kolani province for his bravery, resourcefulness, intransigence and rigidness and the person who turned his back towards the government even during the harshest times of the post Soviet Union.
He finished the secondary school in the village where he was born. He was well respected among his coevals. Elabbas was called for military service when he became 18. After he was demobilized from the army, he worked on a farm for a while. Considering his love towards the land and hard work, he was appointed as a head of the Leasing Team.
He could not stand the fact that our lands were being invaded. Elabbas was one of the first to join when a self defense battalion was established in Agdam region in 1991. Elabbas Isgenderov was considered one of the bravest and fearless scouts of the team. He was skillfully performing the most difficult tasks, and was not even sparing his own life when rendering harmless the essential positions of the enemy in a timely manner.
It was February of 1992… when Umudlu village was being evacuated with the help of military helicopter while still being under the siege. The enemy was not giving any opportunity for the helicopter to land in order to save the 40 militants that were left behind. They were able to return to the military unit only after 10 days by using secret passages. And they were able to accomplish this goal especially thanks to Elabbas’s courage and bravery.
The 4th of March 1992 … Elabbas Isgenderov’s last battle…the brave scout was the first one to burn the enemy nest in the battle of the sake of Gazanchi village … He died heroically in this battle.
He was married and had 3 children.
Isgenderov Elabbas was posthumously awarded the title of “National Hero of Azerbaijan” by the decree # 135 of the President of Azerbaijan on the 13th of August, 1992.
He was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Agdam region.
