Abdullayev Mashallah Babakishi

He was born in Kapanakchi village of Goranboy region on the 27th of May, 1950.  He studied at Gornaboy secondary school # 1 till the 8th grade and then continued his education at the Vocational school. Mashallah started working at Goranboy Explotation of Artesian wells at the age of 15. And he later continued his career at Sumgayit Aluminum Plant. He was called for military service in 1969. He served in Kerch city and  returned back to Baku after being demobilized from the Army in 1971. When Mashallah returned back, he started working at Baku Oil Rigs.

Mashallah Abdullayev decided to pursue his education and entered Baku Physical Education College in 1973. He graduated from the College successfully and returned back to Goranboy in 1975 where he started working as a teacher of Physical Education at school #1. He earned great respect of his colleagues and students from the very first days of his career as a teacher. But his happy days as a pedagogue did not last long.

Armenians who densely lived in Azeri villages such as Garachinar, Manash, Erkach, and Buzlug started attacking the villages such as Zeyva and Todan where Azerbaijani people were living. They were attacking Azerbaijani villages, burning their houses and taking them hostages. In those hard times, M Abdullayev, who cared about the country and the nation gathered all the youth of Goranboy region together.  M. Abdullayev’s service in establishing first Self Defense Units is peerless. He also helped to make all those defense groups into a big battalion. The brave patriot took an active part in cleaning former Shaumyan (present Aghjakand) from the enemy invaders. The bravery and courage shown by him during all the operations and battles against the enemy, earned him a great respect and love of Goranboy people. Moreover, he was chosen as a Deputy to the High Counsel of the Republic (National Assembly). He accomplished his mission with great resourcefulness and knowledge during his service as a Deputy. He was given another responsibility in 1992 – Mashallah Abdullayev was now selected as a Brigade Commander within the Ministry of Defense. The Brigade was supervising Tartar, Goranboy and Yevlakh regions. They served the country well y cleaning Goranboy and Aghdara egions from the enemy invaders.

M. Abdullayev who was promoted t the rank of Major, was also selected as a Mayor of Goranboy region from August of 1992 to May of 1993.

He was awarded the medal of General M. Asadov for his bravery.

He currently has his own business. He even now takes an active part in the social life of the region.

He is married and has one child.

Abdullayev Mashallah Babakishi was awarded the title of the “National Hero of Azerbaijan” by the decree # 6 of the president of Azerbaijani republic on the 23^rd of June, 1992.
